If you are looking for an adrenaline-fueled adventure and breathtaking surroundings, then this tour is for you! Horseback riding through fascinating Inca ruins, exhilarating rapids on our river rafting adventure in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, downhill mountain biking from the high Andes to the dense cloud forest, and hiking one of the less well-known Inca routes to South America’s emblematic archaeological site: Machu Picchu. Join us on this varied program through the diverse ecological regions of the land of the Incas.
A unique experience awaits us today: We will travel like, and with the locals on top of a truck that transports tropical fruits (bananas, passion fruit, etc.) and coffee beans through the valley. We will drive approximately 1 hr from Cocalmayo to the village of Lucmabamba. From here we hike over a reconstructed section of the Incan Trail up to the El Mirador, the highest point in the area. From here we will be able to enjoy the breathtaking views onto the surrounding snow peaks – with Mt. Salkantay- as the most beautiful one and a unique, unspoiled panorama towards majestic Machupicchu. After lunch we will continue our hike with the descent towards the hydro-electric plant of Machupicchu from where we get in a 30 minute train ride to the village of Aguas Calientes. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes. (B/L)
