This fascinating tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas includes guided visits to the archaeological sites of Pisaq and Ollantaytambo, as well as the colorful local market in the charming colonial-era village of Pisac. The scenery in this high Andean valley is superb!
8:00 am: Bus journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the way, we will visit a weaving center/museum where local weavers will explain the textile making process from shearing, spinning and dyeing with plant extracts to actual weaving techniques.
We will continue our tour with a visit to the archaeological site of Pisac: located high above the Sacred Valley of the Incas, this fortified temple complex features fine Inca architecture and offers unmatched views of the valley far below.
After some free time for lunch in the village of Pisac, we will visit the colorful local handcraft market. In the afternoon, we will drive to the traditional village of Ollantaytambo, often described as a living museum because the descendants of the Incas still live in houses built by their ancestors, below the imposing ruins of a great Inca temple complex. We will explore this fascinating archaeological site in the company of our expert guide. 6:00 pm: Return to Cusco (approx)
