This journey follows an extraordinary route through southern Peru, beginning on stark desert coastlines and the country’s only marine sanctuary, then crossing the towering Andes and heading into the depths of the Amazon Basin. The adventure kicks off at the Ballestas Islands, where warm El Niño waters meet the cold Humboldt Current, creating seas teeming with life—sea lions, penguins, and large seabird colonies.
In the heart of the desert, we fly over the mysterious Nazca Lines, vast geometric and animal figures carved into the earth by ancient cultures, their purpose still unknown. From the coast, the route ascends into the high Andes, entering the territory of the Andean condor as we explore one of the deepest canyons on Earth before reaching the sparkling waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Along its sacred shores, ancient traditions persist among communities whose roots go back thousands of years.
From Titicaca, we head north to Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire, where the impressive stone walls of palaces and temples now support elegant Spanish churches and mansions. Beyond the Sacred Valley, the adventure continues on foot along the breathtaking Salkantay route, a stunning alternative to the Inca Trail, traveling through glaciers, high passes, and cloud forests toward the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu, guided by experts who vividly bring the landscape and its history to life.
The journey ends with four unforgettable days exploring the Manu cloud forest and rainforest, one of the most biologically diverse regions on Earth. We navigate rivers, lakes, and jungle trails, searching for macaws, monkeys, caimans, and countless other species—an immersive finale in the wild heart of Peru.
This grand journey follows one of southern Peru’s most remarkable routes — from the arid Pacific coast and the wildlife-rich Ballestas Islands to the soaring Andes and the deep Amazon rainforest. Along the way, you will fly over the mysterious Nazca Lines, explore one of the world’s deepest canyons in condor territory, and experience the living cultures of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake on Earth.
The route continues to Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire, where the legendary Salkantay Trek winds through glaciers, high mountain passes, and cloud forests en route to Machu Picchu. The journey concludes in the Peruvian Amazon, where rivers, jungle trails, and abundant wildlife provide an unforgettable finale in one of the planet’s most biodiverse regions.

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel between 5:30 and 6:00 am as we begin our journey into the Andean–Amazon transition zone. We ascend through highland landscapes dotted with traditional villages before crossing Ajanaco Pass (3,500 m), the gateway to the Amazon rainforest.
From here, the scenery transforms as we descend into the lush cloud forest, rich in orchids, heliconias, tree ferns, and bromeliads. This extraordinary ecosystem shelters a remarkable diversity of birdlife, and with some luck we may spot the Andean cock-of-the-rock, quetzals, trogons, umbrella birds, and colorful orioles.
We arrive at our eco-lodge in the afternoon, with time to relax and absorb the tranquil rhythms of the rainforest.
Overnight at an Amazon lodge (B/L/D).
After an early breakfast, we take a gentle walk to observe local birdlife and, with luck, monkeys in their natural habitat. We then continue by vehicle on a scenic three-hour drive to the river port of Atalaya, where we board a motorized canoe for a short journey deeper into the Amazon rainforest.
Along the way, there is time to swim in the river or enjoy a rejuvenating natural mud bath — a refreshing and traditional way to relax.
After dinner, we set out on a guided night walk, as the jungle awakens with nocturnal wildlife, offering a fascinating glimpse into the rainforest after dark.
Overnight at Amazon lodge (B/L/D).
At dawn, we travel by boat to a parrot clay lick, where you witness a spectacular natural ritual as dozens of parrots and parakeets gather on the mineral-rich riverbanks — one of the Amazon’s most colorful wildlife displays.
After breakfast, we take time to rest before setting out on a guided jungle walk through diverse ecosystems, learning about the rainforest’s extraordinary biodiversity. Along the way, we may encounter wildlife and visit the majestic kapok tree (Ceiba), one of the tallest and most impressive giants of the Amazon.
As night falls, we head out once more on a guided nocturnal walk, searching for insects, frogs, and—if we are lucky—snakes and other fascinating creatures that emerge after dark
