Embark on a journey into the living heart of Peru. Begin in Lima, then venture to the timeless shores of Lake Titicaca, where ancient Andean traditions come alive through music, warm smiles, and an immersive island homestay. Your path leads through the historical wonders of Cusco and the Sacred Valley, culminating in a legendary trek along the Inca Trail. Experience the ultimate reward: entering Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate and tracing the very footsteps of Inca royalty centuries ago.

 

Descend from the Andes into the jungle and into Manu National Park, one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Remote rivers, untouched rainforest, and close encounters with wildlife unfold in their natural rhythm.

DAY 1: LIMA (Arrival)

You will be met at Lima’s international airport and escorted to your hotel, after which you will have the rest of the day free for optional sightseeing excursions.

DAY 2: LIMA – PUNO

In the morning, you will be transferred from the hotel to Lima airport for the domestic flight to Juliaca in southeastern Peru. You will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel in the lakeside city of Puno (3800 meters / 12,550 feet), where you will have the rest of the day free for optional visits and acclimatization.

DAY 3: LAKE TITICACA- Floating Uros Islands and Amantani Island

After breakfast, we will begin our cruise on the highest navigable lake in the world, heading first to the Uros floating reed islands. From there, it is a two-hour boat ride to the island of Amantani, where we will spend the night in local homes. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the ancestral traditions and daily life of the inhabitants of the Lake Titicaca region. In the late afternoon, we will head to the island's highest point to enjoy the sunset over Lake Titicaca. On a clear day, the distant peaks of the Cordillera Real in Bolivia are visible.

DAY 4: LAKE TITICACA- Amantani/Taquile/Puno

After a traditional breakfast, we will say goodbye to our hosts and begin our return journey. After a lake cruise of approximately 90 minutes, we will visit the neighboring island of Taquile. The island's inhabitants have retained many of the traditions, customs, and laws established by their Inca ancestors. We will have plenty of time to explore the island, visit the community and its handicraft center, and enjoy a local lunch before boarding our boat again for the return trip to Puno. We will arrive in the city in the late afternoon, and you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 5: PUNO - CUSCO

After a full day of scenic bus travel across the high Andean plains, we will arrive in Cusco, the former capital of the Incas. We will have lunch along the way and visit several points of interest, including the charming colonial church in the picturesque village of Andahuaylillas and the temple dedicated to the Inca creator god at Raqchi. Upon arrival, we will check into our hotel and rest in preparation for your first full day in the imperial city of Cusco (3300 meters / 10,900 feet).

DAY 6: CUSCO (free day)

Today you will have a free day in Cusco to visit optional sites, shop, rest, or simply wander the city's picturesque streets.

DAY 7: SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS

We will leave the city early in the morning and head by bus to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will visit a weaving center and museum, where local weavers will explain the textile-making process, from shearing and spinning to dyeing with plant extracts and weaving. After this special experience, we will continue our tour by visiting the archaeological site at Pisaq. This charming colonial-era village with its lively local market sits at the base of a mountain where the Incas built a fortified temple complex. We will have plenty of time to explore this beautiful place. After a picnic with fantastic views of the Sacred Valley far below, we will visit the colorful handicraft market in the village. In the afternoon, we will drive to the village of Ollantaytambo. Located at the narrow end of the Sacred Valley, this village is often described as a living museum, where descendants of the Incas live in houses built by their ancestors beneath the ruins of an imposing Inca temple complex.

DAY 8: CUSCO – WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU

We will start our day with an early-morning scenic train ride to Km 104. From the archaeological site of Chachabamba (2250 meters / 7,500 feet), we will begin our Inca Trail with an approximately three-hour climb to the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna (2650 meters / 8,750 feet). This site is considered one of the most beautiful on the Inca Trail for its spectacular location and fine architecture. We will visit this fascinating site and enjoy a good lunch before continuing our hike through the high cloud forest to the famous Sun Gate, or Intipunku. From here, there is a panoramic view of the Lost City of the Incas: legendary Machu Picchu (2400 meters / 8000 feet). After a short walk to the main entrance, we will board a bus to take us to the small town of Aguas Calientes, where you can relax at the hotel or visit the nearby natural hot springs.

DAY 9: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

After breakfast, we will take an early bus to Machu Picchu to enjoy the morning at this magical place. At the most famous attraction in South America, you will be escorted by your expert guide, who will explain the significance of this unique legacy of the great Inca Empire. After the guided tour, we will return to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon for the train ride back to Cusco, where you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 10: CUSCO, CLOUDFOREST

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel between 5:00 and 6:00 am.

After that, we will hit the road and climb winding Andean roads, passing through hamlets and villages until we reach the jungle's edge at Ajanaco, 3500m. Then, we will descend along winding paths into the cloud forest, a place of lush vegetation, orchids, heliconia, and ferns. We may see the cock-of-the-rock, the umbrella bird, the trogon, and the quetzal. Finally, we will arrive at our lodge to relax and rejuvenate.

DAY 11: ATALAYA, LAGOON AND NIGHT WALK

After breakfast, we will take a short walk to see birds and monkeys. Then we will take the bus for an hour to the port of Atalaya, where we will board a boat for 30 minutes and sail to our hostel. During the tour, we can bathe in the river or enjoy a mud bath. After lunch, we will visit the Machuhuasi Lagoon and sail on a raft. Here, we can see hoatzins, monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans, capybaras, tapirs, and other fascinating wildlife. After dinner, we will go on a night walk to look for nocturnal creatures.

DAY 12: PARROT CLAY CLICK

We will sail to the parrot clay lick at dawn to admire these incredible birds as they lick the nutrient-rich wall. Continue exploring the Amazon and learn about medicinal plants.

DAY 13: RETURN TO CUSCO

After a delicious breakfast, we will return by boat to Atalaya and then take the van back to Cusco. Along the way, we will see hummingbirds, orchids, and waterfalls, and we may spot other birds or even monkeys. We will then leave the lush jungle behind as we pass spectacular Andean peaks.

At night, we will arrive in Cusco between 5:00 and 7:00 pm
