Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Take time to acclimate to the altitude (3,300 meters / 10,900 feet) and explore the city's historic center’s narrow streets. In the afternoon, we’ll guide you through Cusco’s historic center, where Inca temples and palaces form the foundations of Spanish churches and mansions. Stroll through the traditional artists’ quarter of San Blas.

Today, we visit the impressive Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park. Once the Inca “House of the Sun,” the complex includes temples, palaces, and astronomical observatories. The massive stones forming the walls, some weighing up to 130 tons, are set with incredible precision. We then enjoy a gourmet picnic and a relaxing spa ritual.

After a comforting breakfast, we’ll drive about 90 minutes to Soraypampa (3,800 m / 12,467 feet) to see the majestic Salkantay and Humantay glaciers. The hike to Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,800 feet) takes about 2 hours and rewards you with views of the lake’s emerald and turquoise waters set against the white snow of the Humantay glacier. After a drive to Cachiccata, we’ll begin our hike to Choquetacarpo. The trail winds through grasslands framed by snow-capped peaks, with the mountains’ stark white contrasting beautifully with the rich red soil and blue sky. After 3-4 hours, we’ll reach a high pass offering spectacular views of Mount Veronica (5,800 meters) and the fertile Urubamba River, which is home to numerous Inca sites. Here, at the Sun Gate, the Incas performed ceremonies to honor their sun god and the mountains, and to ask for health, prosperity, and wisdom. Another 30 minutes of hiking will bring us to our campsite.
Overnight: Luxury glamping (B/L/D).
After breakfast, we’ll descend to Cachiccata. From there, we’ll drive about 30 minutes to the charming village of Ollantaytambo. Often described as a living museum, this village is home to descendants of the Incas who still live in the ancient houses their ancestors built, beneath an imposing Inca temple complex. In the afternoon, we’ll board the train for a scenic 1.5-hour ride along the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes, at the base of Machu Picchu. The rest of the day is free for relaxation; the hotel features beautiful orchid gardens in the middle of the cloud forest.
